PLAYWRITING WORKSHOP
with LA Drama Critics Circle award winning playwright Erik Patterson

+ you get access to ten optional guided writing sprints (Wednesdays from 6-8pm & Sundays from 12-2pm) (www.erikpatterson.org/sundaysprints for more info on the Sprints -- which are available to writers outside the class as well)

This is a 5-week intensive ONLINE class to help you find your voice as a playwright. Through lively discussion, writing exercises, and critique, Erik will guide you towards the first draft of a new play. The class is geared towards beginning playwrights, but all are welcome: come get a refresher course in the basics of playwriting. You've got a play inside of you: let's get it onto the page

You will be writing 8-10 pages per week. By the end of our four weeks together, you will have the tools to finish a first draft on your own. I expect all writers to have a kernel of an idea for a play to discuss at our first session. It doesn't need to be fully fleshed out. It could be an idea for a character, or a theme you want to write about, or an idea for a scene. Some sort of jumping off point that we can discuss.

Class fee is usually $350. Included in that class fee, you are invited to participate in Sunday Sprints, which is a 2-hour guided writing session I host on Zoom every Wednesday from 6-8pm Pacific Time and every Sunday from 12pm to 2pm Pacific Time.

Class size is limited to eight writers to ensure there's time to focus on each writer at each session.

"Erik Patterson is the teacher you've been waiting for. Gentle, guiding, experienced, patient and highly accomplished -- Erik gets you thinking, but more importantly Erik gets you writing. He will pull that idea from you that you'd thought lost forever." -- Liza Palmer, author of The F Word
